Film ki announcement September 2021 me tentative title Thalapathy 66 ke under ki gayi thi, kyuki ye Vijay ki leading role wali 66th film hai. Principal photography April 2022 me start huyi aur December me end huyi. Visakhapatnam, Ballari and Ladakh me sporadic schedules ke saath, film ko jyaadatar Chennai and Hyderabad me shoot kiya gaya tha.
Music Thaman S duara compose kiya gaya tha, cinematography Karthik Palani duara handle kiya gaya tha aur editing Praveen K. L. duara kiya gaya tha. film produced ke dauraan kaee leak ke adheen thee, makers duara unhe shaamil karne ke efforts ke baawajood.
Varisu ko Pongal ke week me 11 January 2023 ko worldwide theatres me release kiya gaya tha, aur critics se mixed reviews receive huyi thi. film ne box office par lagbhag ₹290-310 crore ki ki kamayi kee hai, jo present me second-highest grossing Indian film of 2023 hai, fifth-highest grossing Tamil film worldwide hai aur saath hi Vijay ke çareer me highest grosser film hai.
