14 November 2018 ko officially film ki announcement ki gayi thi, iske working title Thalapathy 63 (referring to Vijay’s 63rd film as an actor) ke under, aur isne Theri and Mersal ke baad Vijay aur Atlee ke third collaboration ko mark kiya. is film ke liye Principal photography 21 January 2019 ko start huyi, jahaa predominantly Chennai ke aaspaas huyi, Delhi me ek minor schedule ke saath, aur 14 August ko end huya. film ke title Bigil ki announcement 22 June 2019 ko first look poster ke saath ki gayi thi. film me music A. R. Rahman duara compose hai, cinematography G. K. Vishnu duara handle gaya hai aur editing Ruben duara kiya gaya hai.

₹180 crore ke budget me bani, Bigil ko India me 25 October 2019 ko Diwali festival ke mauke par theatre mein release kiya gaya. Vijay ke performance, the message and direction ki taarif ke saath film ko release hone par mostly positive response mile, lekin criticism ka aim weak aur formulaic first half aur excessive length thi. Bigil 2019 kee the highest-grossing Tamil film ke roop mein emerged huyi, aur ab tak kj 50th highest grossing Indian film of all time hai, jisne release hone par lagbhag ₹285–300 crore ki kamayi kee, ye aage chalkar highest-grossing Tamil film of all time ban gayi. Vijay ki us time ke career mein highest-grossing film thee. film ne 1 February 2020, ko apne 100-day theatrical run ko poora kiya aur Zee Cine Awards Tamil, Ananda Vikatan Cinema Awards, three Edison Awards aur ek SIIMA Award me se each me two awards jeete.
